Fashionistas and rain

When Gene Kelley was singing in the rain, he was alone and ecstatic. Lucky guy. Remind me never to take on a show at a high society party... even if it IS Tommy Hilfiger's spring/summer bash. Five songs into my set, my very capable keyboardist and i were bullied off stage by torrential rainfall. Risking electrocution i did one song all by myself at the insistance of the event manager. wet, soggy Bonnie raitt song. My Leather trenchcoat practically ruined.... tired...

Been away for awhile thanks to my ten day project which will end this saturday. I've spent them teaching a group of techies to sing for their annual intra-office show. 'tis a gruelling task. While most can actually carry a tune, overall they have no sense of time and its driving me nuts. The things we do for money....

Have another gig coming up Saturday evening with Boomsa. that should be fun.

More later. Sleep now....

...zzzzzzzzz...xxx.....zzzzzzzzzz

I played in the rain. Once. It was during "Hey There Little Miss Riding Hood" by Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs as covered by my band. During the soft, talking part, when I, the Wolf, tell her, the Hood, what I plan to do with her--and I'm 'close-miking' it, looking out across a parking lot full of moms and dads and their retarded children, because it was a retarded children gig, when I made the mistake of licking the microphone. They say I made a weird sound and that there was smoke, and that the event was called shortly after, but I, to this day, every time I hear that song, smell burning hair and taste foil. Otherwise it's an okay song. Good blog you!

Yes, Saturday should be fun. I foresee that it will be better than Tommy night, at least. Except I'm not really looking forward to I'm Every Woman. And that high note in Golden Eye. Tsk.
Hugs.

Will defnitely put up an audio post soon.

CW- that's a great gig story. My favourite bizzare gig tale is when we played to a huge crowd of Amway distributors. Was like playing to satan's army. Anyways, they were dancing away (to hard to handle by the Black Crows...go figue)and someone in the audience collapsed from being crowded in. they made us stop and a this one big guy walked into the crowd, picked him up and walked out. And they were like "okay, he's out of the way. start playing again". And the dancing resumed. Brrr... people...

Retarius- well i don't think it'll be like angels singing! No matter how hard i try! Not exactly a "sweet" voice. More on the rocking powerful side.

Boomsa- I refuse to do that song. I don't like it. Lets not...

Manish- 100 points to you!

EM- That night i was better than cool. I was soaking freezing!

A new blog. Hurrah!

I have heard the Ostrich. There was an audio thing a while back. I downloaded it. It was great.
Or am I dreaming?

I used to hate playing outdoors in case it rained. The worse gig we ever did was in a leaky barn. We had to position the amps and mikes so they wouldn't get dripped on. The singer kept getting little shocks.

We were young then. I wouldn't do that now.

Welcome back - we've missed you! And doesn't it just suck sometimes to have to work for a living?! I'm sure your Bonnie Raitt was great even in the rain - hey, she is blues after all. =) I vote for the audio clips as well.
